Wikipedia is the place to go when you need to find out about pretty much anything. With over 3 million (3,000,000) articles in 10 languages, they cater to most of the people with access to the internet's thirst for knowledge. Their searches bring up much more relevant information than Google does in my opinion.

Upon entering their homepage, I get taken to a page that allows me to select what language I want to view their site in. Ranging from English to Dutch to Spanish. Naturally I select French... Just kidding, English of course although I have studied a bit of French but that's not really relevant right now.

Anyway, I get taken to the English language homepage and I see what I love about it. The daily featured article along with the current news and some random facts taken from some of their newest articles. It always makes for good filler in conversations by saying 'Did you know that...' and I always seem to have the curiousity to explore the subject matter a bit further, which is no bad thing and is exactly what Wikipedia want me to do. I've heard stories around the various forums I visit about how people just spend their long, hard hours at work browsing through the content of Wikipedia.

The main feature of Wikipedia is the fact that most of the content is provided by your every day internet user I.E. You! This means you can get expert knowledge in almost any topic you could think of. Now, I'm sure you're wondering 'How do I know it's reliable?' Well, before an article goes public, Wikipedia asks it's users to verify and clean up the content so not only does the public provide the content, they also provide the quality control. This means that experts in that particular field can verify the content so you know it's of the highest standard. Now, history books have told us not to rely on one resource for all your information so don't forget to check the external links that are provided with the article.

Now to check the content of the articles, let's choose something random like 'highlighter' and see what it brings up.Ah yes, as you can see here, you get information on the various colours, special features of some highlighters and how they have been used in art. Talk about random facts, I bet you didn't know that. Wikipedia also has a random article link which can help those times when you know you should be doing something important but you really can't be bothered to.

A very informative site and I've used it many times to do research. I suggest you use it too as it's wealth of articles should be more than ample.
