I'm sure at some point or another you've been stuck in a game with no idea what to do or there's this one boss that you can't figure out who to beat. This is where GameFAQs come in. BEFORE you throw your controller/mouse/child at the screen, check to this site to see if they can offer any assistance.

For those that don't know, FAQ stands for Frequently Asked Questions. This give you some sort of idea on what to expect from the site. When I first load it up, I see the Gamespot logo. These two sites are partners. GameFAQs provides dedicated forums for each game along with help guides whilst Gamespot provides the reviews and news. A perfect partnership, you might say. On this page, I see a choice of platforms to choose from on the top and the main content section holds the daily updates, the most sought after help guides and the most popular ones along with some news and reviews provided by Gamespot.

I always use GameFAQs for help whenever I'm stuck in a game so lets check out one of their game sections. I chose Guild Wars: Factions since I have it and it's a good game. My Ranger/Monk could kick your ass :-p. Now that page just shows you some basic information about the game with some links across the top if you want to explore it more. You have a choice from FAQs & Guides, Cheat Codes, Reviews, Message Board and Check Prices.

Most of the content for the game is submitted by GameFAQ members. This content is then checked by the editors and then it's put up on the website for all to see. What I like about it is that if you just so happen not to like X's guide then you can just go and check through A, B, C, D, E or F's guides. There's a variety to choose from and as we all know, there's no one set way to complete any game. Each time you play through it, it will be different. You can also look through in-depth guides which provide a guide on one certain aspect of the game.

The message boards are full of people you can ask for help and since GameFAQ collaborates with Gamespot, you're looking at thousands of people. You will always find people that offer good sound advice but other times you will just get people that say 'LOLZOR U SUCK N00B' so I suggest that either a) You steer clear of the message boards since fanboys are ever-present or b) Just ignore the fanboys and hope someone decent comes along and answers your question sensibly. It's your choice.

You have the option to sign up for membership which is usually pretty quick and has a lot of benefits so if you use the site a lot then I would fully reccomend it. There are usually polls or some sort of contest going on at the site for you to participate. Like I said above, I use this site for receiving help but I make sure to steer clear of the message boards. So should you.
