Crediton is an historic Devon market town, convenient for both Dartmoor and Exmoor, and only seven miles from Exeter. It boasts a thriving business community, good schools and a unique setting in the heart of the Devonshire countryside. In 2009 we will be celebrating the 1100th anniversary of the founding of Devon’s first cathedral in Crediton with a series of events in and around the town. These will be wide ranging across a broad spectrum of civic, community, cultural, musical, religious and sporting themes. Devon is a large county in South West England, bordered by Cornwall to the west, and Dorset and Somerset to the east. It is unique among English counties, in that it has two separated coastlines, on the English Channel and Bristol Channel branches of the Atlantic. Although Devon is the official county name, Devon and Devonshire are in general use.
